LCL

LCL Service

What is LCL?

LCL (Less than container load) stands for grouping different shipments to fill up a container. This is why LCL often is called groupage cargo.

BENEFITS of LCL / groupage cargo

- When you ship groupage cargo you only pay for the volume you need - not a flat rate like for FCL

- Shipping fewer goods more frequently means spending less on inventory space / money.

- Groupage cargo is far cheaper than airfreight, so if you have some time to wait for your shipment, you can lower shipping costs

- During peak season when space is tight, it can be easier to find space for groupage cargo than for container

LCL Shipping costs

Groupage cargo costs are calculated mainly by volume; usually in cubic meters (CBM). The more space you need, the more freight you pay.

Weight is also taken into consideration but because vessels can carry high amounts of weight, volume normally matter more.
